Stefanik introduces bipartisan SERVICE Act

pU.S. Rep. Elise M. Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, had a busy week in Congress, introducing several bills, participating in the House Armed Services Committee markup of the National Defense Authorization Act and voting in four roll call votes./ppOn Tuesday, Ms. Stefanik introduced the bipartisan SERVICE Act with New Jersey Congressman Andy Kim, eliminating a rank requirement for the My Career Advancement Account. The program assists military spouses with paying for certain certificates and degrees./ppOn Wednesday, Ms. Stefanik announced the introduction of the Canadian Snowbird Visa Act with Democratic Rep. Ted Deutch of Florida. The bill would extend the current limit on Canadian visitors to the U.S. — 182 days — by two months, making it easier for seasonal Canadian visitors, and is supported by the Canadian Snowbird Association./ppOn Friday, Ms. Stefanik announced she was co-leader of the Go to High School, Go to College Act, which would extend Pell Grant eligibility for low-income students in dual high school and college enrollment programs. Under the proposed bill, students in dual enrollment could earn up to two semesters of college credits before drawing down the 12 semesters of eligibility for Pell Grants in college. It has bipartisan support in the House from Democratic Rep.
