Man faces rape charges

pWATERTOWN — An area man faces rape charges involving an incident in January in Clayton./ppDerrick J. Nier, 25, address unavailable, was arraigned in Jefferson County Court on charges of first-degree rape and third-degree rape./ppThe charges were contained in a grand jury indictment unsealed in court. The charges stem having sexual intercourse which by forcible compulsion and when the person was incapacitated to have consent./ppHe also was charged with making a false written statement. /ppHe pleaded not guilty to each count and was released on his own recognizance. /p
