Free music in the park series begins Thursday in W. Carthage

pWEST CARTHAGE — The Sounds of Summer free concert series kicks off Thursday./ppThe Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce and the village of West Carthage host the concerts which will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evenings with the venues alternating between Riverbend Park on South Main Street in West Carthage and Farmers Market Pavilion on Riverside Drive, Carthage. /ppThe concerts are sponsored by WWNY TV, the villages of Carthage and West Carthage along with the towns of Wilna and Champion./pbWEST Carthage concerts /bpAt Riverbend Park on South Main Street/ppspan class="bullet"n/span Thursday: Double Barrel Blues — Four-piece Blues Rocking band/ppspan class="bullet"n/span July 25: Tough Luck — Plays rock ‘n’ roll from the 1950s and 1960s/ppspan class="bullet"n/span Aug. 8: The Arrhythmias — Started in 1977, continues to play big band swing music for dancing and listening pleasure/ppspan class="bullet"n/span Aug. 22: Mike Powell — Village native lacrosse standout turned musician/songwriter /pbCarthage concerts /bpAt the Farmers Market Pavilion on Riverside Drive/ppspan class="bullet"n/span July 18: Nelson Brothers Band — Started in 2009, billed as “Country Music for all occasions.”/ppspan class="bullet"n/span Aug. 1: The Urgent Message Band — Mix of folk rock, country and classic rock./ppspan class="bullet"n/span Aug. 15: Fritz’s Polka Band — Formed in 1978 is breaking the “polka” stereotype adding an eclectic mix, ranging from modern-style polka to country to blues to rock/ppspan class="bullet"n/span Aug. 29: 10th Mountain Division Army Band./p
