Body from apparent suicide recovered at Glen Park hydro plant

pGLEN PARK — The body of a man, who jumped into the Black River from the Mill Street bridge last week, was recovered from the Glen Park hydroelectric plant earlier this morning. /ppCity police said it was an apparent suicide. They are not releasing the person’s name until the next of kin has been notified./ppShortly before 7 a.m. Monday, the body was found by Black River hydro workers, who were asked by city police to watch for it, Detective Lt. Joseph R. Donoghue Sr. said./ppThe person was not from Watertown and was staying with people in the city, he said. /ppAt about 5 a.m. on June 3, a motorist driving on Mill Street reported the incident./ppThat day, city fire, Guilfoyle Ambulance Services and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office initially aided in the search, but efforts were reduced to police occasionally scanning the river after they couldn’t find signs of a person in it. /p
